Families Invited to a Creative Literacy Morning at Ecclesfield Library This April

Ecclesfield Library is set to welcome local families for a fun‑filled Literacy Event on Friday 10th April 2026, delivered in partnership with Sheffield Family Hubs & Start for Life. Running from 10:00am to 11:30am, the session promises an engaging mix of playful, hands‑on activities designed to spark early literacy skills in young children.

The morning will offer a variety of opportunities for parents and children to learn, play, and explore together, including:

📚 Role Play – Encouraging imagination, storytelling, and early language development through pretend play and creative scenarios.

🎨 Junk Modelling – Using everyday items to create vehicles, creatures, and colourful inventions that help build problem‑solving and fine motor skills.

🖍️ Mark Making – A key early writing activity where children can experiment with doodles, lines, and shapes, boosting confidence on the path toward handwriting.

🎵 Reading & Singing – Families can enjoy stories, rhymes, and songs—including much‑loved titles like Car, Car, Truck, Jeep—supporting early vocabulary, rhythm, and communication.

As with previous events, families will also be able to take home free resources to help continue the learning journey beyond the session.

The event is part of Ecclesfield Library’s ongoing commitment to supporting early literacy and providing welcoming community spaces for local families. In collaboration with Sheffield Family Hubs, the session aims to make early learning fun, accessible, and connected to everyday family life.

With creativity, music, storytelling, and plenty of hands‑on activities, this April’s Literacy Event is set to be an enjoyable and enriching morning for all who attend.
